Opto as a small holder of GNS and a larger holder of GNSPA I am concerned that Gunns and for that matter Forestry Tasmania are not FSC approved. Having researched it further FSC is about practices that are sustainable and environmentally safe.

In reality even forests in third world countries like South Africa have a number of forestry plantations certified by FSC.

I think it is a bit concerning that Gunns has not sought certification for part or all of its plantations.

That is my main concern at present but it would go a long way to truly be environmentally aware if we stopped hiding behind our own laws and respected that a body like FSC is in fact a internationally accepted standard.

I don't have issues with the mill as long as it is best practice and well monitored.

I don't approve of using any form of persuasion that is outside the boundaries of the law. In fact even a few that are within the law don't stand up to my view if fair play. If you don't like something get the law changed dont abuse people abiding by the law. If the majority dont agree - keep campaigning or leave.
