There is no need for a general sell off to be considering Australian oil and gas stocks. They are under-valued no matter how you look at them. The price of WPL and STO is disconnected from the underlying energy price. I could post a lot of resources here supporting this hypothesis but would be covering ground very adequately explained already by others. I'd refer you to one article in particular. Actually just a quote from an article I remember from Live.wire a few months ago: "If you aren't long energy now, you probably never will be". In other words, the sell off has already happened. And the recovery is either down the road, or perhaps this is the new normal. We shall see!
@stoz I suspect the instrument Madamswer is referring to is the Betashares OOO ETF.
