There's a reason why Jane Street pays so we'll though. They use a somewhat specialized programming language called OCamel for their platform. Most other companies use Python or Julia. OCamel isn't very popular so to be really good at it means a lot to Jane Street and this is exactly what we're talking about. If you're talented you can command a really high salary. If I spent the time learning OCamel I'd be apply for a job at Jane Street too with a base salary of $300k and many staff getting paid $500k bonuses.

IOU aren't after anything specialized. App development is commonplace. There should be plenty of decent talent to deliver a quality app. Atome were able to do it and that was before they were funded with half a billion dollars. In fact they were probably funded half a billion dollars off the back of their tech being quality and user friendly. Fingers crossed V2.0 delivers the goods. I can forgive a first version for being clunky but not a second version.
