ASX zeroes in on two areas of market manipulation

The Australian Securities Exchange will intensify its crackdown on companies using its announcements platform opportunistically to boost their share prices, and shine a light on the trend for employing third-party stock promoters, as part of the ASX’s surveillance priorities this year.
Third-party stock promoters are companies employed by ASX businesses to raise investor awareness via marketing activities -- usually investment newsletters, social media or online forums -- in exchange for cash or stock rewards.
