Execs are paid a bonus for value produced as are many other professions.

back in the 70's I worked fro Tubemakers. we were paid a bonus each fortnight for production over a modest level. the fool union reps liked the Friday arvo beer at the club though and caused months of no bonus due to their stupid half day strikes. until some smartarse asked to stop going on strike because it stopped us getting our bonus.

I don't know what the answer is but there are many different ways of negotiating. the first thing is to find common ground and productivity v. reward is certainly a mutual place to start. imo only, but power imbalance is what creates conflict.... but it disappears when two equal forces meet and each recognises the other as equal. its a bit Lao Tzu but I feel sure you'll get this point. the dynamic changes.

this is where if think structural change could benefit employers and employees. it been done in plenty of workforces elsewhere and probably here in Aus too. Hawke tried to attain this sort of balance and had a modicum of success.

democracy is certainly fascinating and freedom, how very topical.
