Spot on about this. AGY's timing is perfect, and Jerko seems to be doing a great job of managing everything. When you look at the lithium charts at the moment, as a seller, you'd hardly want to be locking in your prices at the moment. This is very clearly a sellers' market, not a buyers' market, and you could scarcely ask for a better time to start selling than in about 6 months from now. I don't know when this price rally will end, I suppose none of us do, but regardless of what type of chart it is, as a seller/holder, you wouldn't be in a hurry to lock in or jump out while there's that much momentum. Lithium buyers right now will be getting desperate, BEV manufacturers absolutely need the product and when push comes to shove will pay what's asked, because the cost of lithium, even at multiples of the current spot price, doesn't change the game in terms of BEV production viability, and they obviously need to be producing those vehicles.
I agree with the poster who said we're likely to see consolidation of global prices over the next year or two, similar to Brent, WTI etc; if New World prices are too much below Asian prices, you're going to see countries like Japan shipping their lithium across the Pacific. Right now both supply and demand are growing in frenetic fashion, but as both sides mature they will establish more stability and structure. But having said that, the raw reality of a global supply shortage for a product which is absolutely required by manufacturers and will be purchased even if they have to pay multiples of the current price, means we have the very real potential to see multiples of the current price, and it's easy to see these prices lasting for at least two years or so as BEV manufacturing continues to increase and production simply can not ramp up at the same rate. The next few years seems likely to provide us with one of modern economic's more notable case studies in a supply shortfall which will probably go down in economic history and be spoken of for many years.
Some may say I'm getting ahead of myself or being too optimistic etc, so rather than pointing out that I'm not kidding myself into thinking any of this is a sure thing etc etc, I'll (completely facetiously) double down and say that in a few decades while talking with my grandkids as I land on the home's helipad and they look down at the mansion and ask me "Grandpa, why is our home so much bigger than all my friends'?" I can tell them "Because I invested in lithium just before the great shortage of the early to mid 2020s"
