Pretty sure chronic (and hyper-) inflammation cuts across many more areas of medicine including life threatening diseases than what a Rheumatologist specialises in (i.e. arthritis, other musculoskeletal conditions and autoimmune diseases). Take for instance non-autoimmune cardiovascular disease, sepsis, inflammatory bowel disease* etc.
