They planned to end mining in the open pit in FY2022 as they transition to the Rosemont underground- as noted in the last quarterly.
I guess like most open pits at the end of their life, everything is stretched to the limit in order to get the very last bit of ore, the pit gets narrower, the walls get steeper and risks are taken that the walls don't collapse before the last ore is taken.
This is all situation normal, I guess the announcement is going to be that the open pit mining has ended.
Come on NSW govt, pull your finger out and approve McPhillamys!
