My thoughts on the major players taking another route? Always possible, nothing is out of the question. Having said that, I don't see it for the most part...........why?
Because why would they? We have patents in place (for the most part) so trying to get around these would be the longer more expensive road, and in the tech industry, every moment delayed is an edge to the competitors. Our technology is ready and available, proven, far superior and cheap.
For the major players the most logical, cost effective and quickest way to stay in the game is to utilise BRNs IP.
In addition to this, strengthen their position in the market by acquiring certain companies whom are set to benefit and grow from BRNs arrival. Acquiring these companies will also allow them to somewhat hide the fact that they will be using our IP. To me this is the most likely and logical scenario.
