The four countries that voted against nuclear power and gas are victims of literal interpretation of a manufactured word - sustainable.
The critical point, for those who believe carbon dioxide is heating the earth, is that nuclear power does not contribute fossil carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. Natural gas does (about 50% of coal's contribution), but nuclear power does not.
Nuclear power is technically not sustainable, in contrast with solar and wind. But nuclear power is the only source of power that will save the supply of electricity that the modern world requires. Worrying about its non-sustainability is just playing with words as we face a crisis.
