Right, so you need to work your way out of those longs. I guess you can keep trading to rack up some balance so the hit doesn't hurt as much and slowly get that balance down against profits. $1200 was a cracker!
I always thought, is it possible to just optimise your shorts say twice the size of longs and as it grinds lower you catch up a bit? But how? Gee it's tough. I struggle selling into new lows or buying new highs even though the wind should be in the sails. Not much of a pioneer myself.
