Because right now we have highly contagious strains that aren't as dangerous.

It's always possible that could flip into more highly dangerous strains ALSO highly contagious.

Right now we're hoping that like the 1918 flu, the less strong overwhelms the others and we can treat what's left.

But the flu viruses aren't as dangerous as the coronavirus which is a different structure to the flu virus and the way it attaches to the cells is insidious.

This is really a lot more dangerous than authorities want you to focus on, wisely they are trying to keep people calm for good reason.
They are promoting vaccines for very good reasons. And now we have going for broke on new variation vaccines. We have to it's not a choice.
We also should be vaccinating all nations but we're not doing that and it's a colossal error of judgement because that's how new strains develop.

This is not a time for assuming I'm fit and healthy and young....she'll be right.

You easily could end up being the person begging for the vaccine in ICU and being told:
