E & I dont do programing ..If its ,,cold commisioning,, ( stage before life comisioning ) its hell a boring job ..just verifing cables . If it s life comminsioning ....thats more challanging and very interesting ..than you need to think , identify problems , Vendors drawings often dont match , and also simple things ..like some personal over tighten screws and ripped them off on terminals , you still find wrong labels and so on , you still find wrong wiring conections . Instruments as such are simple thing , there is no special knowledge into it ..they work or not , just need to get right manual and scrol through menu . and for sparky ...all instruments works the same 4-20 ma or mili volts or now days data protocol comunication ( Hart protocol or so ) . If instrument or module dosnt work ..its just replaced for new one .
