I only have one caveat to liking your post and that is the bit about family values and religious belief. Though I'm at pains to point out before I go on, in the context of your post I'm taking those traits in the spirit of the assumption of a high level of humanistic good will and integrity.

There are however some people out there who use those widely assumed positive traits as a cover for serious misdeeds, an assumed right to (often hypocritically) judge others who don't fit the template of apparent normalcy and to further an agenda of absolute control; both in their relationships and in their roles in the wider community.
