Pretty sure the use it or lose it slots / schedules would have been largely ignored currently due to covid disruptions worldwide .
As for "pilots must fly" ..... well no , there would have been exceptions made and besides a pilot can get enough total pilot hours by using the flight simulators . Total flying time ( there is a difference between TFT and TPH ) would have been adjusted in someway to allow for the disruptions / cancellations ...... if this weren't the case there would be a hell of a lot of pilots who were grounded .
While not all airlines own and operate their own flight sims , Qantas is well positioned with several of their own flight sims in Mel - Syd - Bris.
