I would like to know what certification the company is paying for and trying to achieve. If it is ISO9001 as Investbest has stated in a previous thread I believe this to be the incorrect certification. I believe the correct certification should be AS9100D this standardizes quality management system requirements to the greatest extent possible and can be used at all levels of the supply chain by organizations around the world.
Its use should result in improved quality, cost, delivery, performance through the reduction or elimination of organizational unique requirements. While primarily developed for the aviation, space and defense industries this standard can also be used in other industry sectors when a quality system with additional requirements over ISO9001 system is needed.
To break it down it is a crucial and advantageous management system for successful defense and aerospace manufacturers. Can the company if they are reading this, clarify what certification is being applied for and why it has taken them so long as surely they must have known from the start to deal with defense you need the proper certification.
