Nanotech? I doubt it. More likely contamination from the machinery making the contents of the vials or from the machinery filling the vials. All that high tech automated machinery works fine, until it doesn't. No liability of the manufacturers means they don't care what crap winds up in their products, or if the product was crap in the first place!
