I have owned 3 Mercedes over the years and yes the 1980's models were not the best but the last one purchased in 2016 has not had one thing go wrong with it. In spite of having every option available on it. With similar accolades from all the people I know that bought a similar year, or more recent one.
I can't say the same about VW or BMW
