DKS take over finally approved with some conditions attached which was not unexpected. The ACCC is a toothless tiger and really doesn't have the power to break up the supermarket sector, Aldi has been here for awhile and Costco's membership structure won't appeal to Average Joe who is used to being able to shop for free. Does WOW need to sharpen up their business in the supermarket area, absolutely but does it need to make radical changes, certainly not. I noticed someone said WES has more variaty, this is true but ultimately the majority is now in the retail sector and we are not going to see WOW buy Coal miners or fertiliser assets now are we?
The sleeper in the WOW business really is Big W, would do they need to do to get more sales from it? Hindsight being what it is a take over of JBH even 12 months ago could of been extremely profitable.
