Good article in the AFR/Bloomberg regarding the oil spike late on Friday/US.
It’s caught many off-guard as Asia/Europeans were finished for the week. While the banks have global desks, some were in set and forget mode, while others (e.g. funds) may have been otherwise off-line. Much a nervous weekend for many I fear!
Is this the catalyst to kick oil to $100/bbl. It’s likely, in my view. We may just blow through the $100’s but there will be much volatility thereafter, which will take nerves of steel in order to stay the course on STO.
Given the structural challenges in oil markets, the landscape in the oil patch is looking excellent out for a few years.
Looking forward to FY from STO (Wed) & WPL (Thu): both should be crackers and full of goodies!
