I wonder why you ask me? I hope you've asked plenty of others because I can't offer you an opinion. I recall the events of Gorbachev as being a period of great potential for peace. I don't feel the need to read in interesting but in depth interview. on a series of sections it seems little has changed wrt Russian/US paranoia and of course there's the age old maxim of the secret of success for any national leader is to find a war and look like the peacemaker or the victim for the voters, never the aggressor. So Gorbachev played the peacemaker and got the sack, so now Putin plays the victim of the ancient USSR enemy. now would you like to give me a brief summation of your take on the Gorbachev and how this involves the WASP of the White House ? these ancient games have played out thousands of times over thousands of years.

IMO Gorby's sue for peace was exploited by the USA who interpreted it as weakness and, IMO, Putin will not fall for a US call for peace but instead play the US at its own game......hardball.
