The privatisation of energy was a stupid choice of govt. We not only had cold calls but their representatives were always calling at our door. I was grateful for my locked fence. Sometimes they got to my door.....

Such interactions were common.
They are now not permitted to do this. However, we had years of this. I did begin with reading my bills to them but, over time, you knew it was all smoke and mirrors and your cheap power would shortly be replaced by higher charges lurking elsewhere on your bill....that is why I and a million others refused to interact with them. They were just sharks....
Utilities should stay in the hands of public enterprise and never be privatized.
