Lol you're in denial, Taiwan has clearly outperformed China over decades and is clearly far wealthier on a per capita basis.
There may not be a causal relationship between democracy and growth, but whatever the reason, China's democratic neighbours in East Asia are all much wealthier on a per capita basis.
