One concept of metaverse gaming is the ability to utilise characters from different games to play a game e.g. take claw stars spaceship and wander around moonland to batter cryptant crab.

I am not suggesting this is happening at froyo but that's what I watched from a video last year about metaverse gaming. That means those costumes can be worth something as people equip their characters with shinning cool looking costume wandering around the game or environment to show off....and people actually spent a fair bit on costume to look good in virtual world..
