No you don't make sense.
People can short.
it opened at 17c
closed at 15.5
people can borrow someone else's shares. sell them at 17c
buy them back at 15.5c. you give the shares back.
you profit the difference.
you don't need to be long stock to sell. that's what shorting is. most retail can't short in Australia. so it's big money making these moves.
