So there'd have to be several hundred if not thousand of these things hooked up.

What if half this noise is VHF trading systems outdoing one another?

That's not to say it won't decimate prices while they do it, but do you think they are being used?

I'd imagine they'd use them on just about anything (equities, derivatives, EFT's, indices, currencies etc).
