fundamental analysis, page-3

In America, they report quarterly EPS. In Australia, it is half yearly.

My Etrade has a tab called Company Details (or something) and then one presses the "Dividends" tab. It shows EPS and dividends for the last 10 years or so.

Otherwise, simply follow the company annnouncements and read each half-yearly and yearly results.

Regarding EPS, be careful of 'weighted EPS'. Weighted EPS is when a company has recently issued more shares and all of the shares currently on issue are not used in the calcuation of the EPS.

To overcome this, find the most recent Appendix 3B announcement, with the number of shares & options on it, and perform your own calculation.

A good example is the company HST (Hastie). Their last profit result was deceptive because it did not use all of their share to calculate the EPS. The EPS was much higher than in reality.

Technical analysis seems Ok for trading (I know little about it) but in my opinion the large traders/instos still follow the old fashioned fundamental analysis.

I use fundamental analysis. Its great.
