sort of but not really
the Levant was the cross roads of the Islamic (with Christian & Jewish) world for centuries
therefore there are so many different cultural groups living in the Levant
if you made a nation out of each group there would be lots of little nations
for example, the French appeared to want a Christian Lebanon yet Christians were not a great majority there
the history of the Levant is one of mixture or pluralism
Syria is a great example of different groups living together
contrary to the mass media, there was no religious war in Syria
