Well, it would be a bit strange if the market showed green on a day when WAR was declared.

I still hold that Putin's will not press too hard - once he gets his minimum gains he will slow down and try to convince the gullible or the cowardly in the world that he was justified in his actions.

You know Ukraine is a basket case, with a GDP per Capita of $2500, coming in between Sudan and Egypt. But in Ukraine's case that is because it was so badly mistreated by Soviet Russia (Stalin murdered half the population by starvation). Still on the world stage they account for little, which is a reason Putin thinks he can get away with it.
But Ukraine is a big country, with a large population who have clearly chosen independence and democracy - they deserve that right, and they deserve Nato's protection as they have asked, and aid to recover and become strong.

Where Putin has miss-calculated is that with China also threatening, the West (read US, UK, EU and its close allies) cannot turn a blind eye - hence sanctions like never before.

Now if you want to play the share market you must stay calm - this war will resolve, and will soon move off the main burner.

All the strong indicators especially for Australia's minerals wealth are intact, this IS NOT A BUBBLE - maybe a bubble will form as it has before and the Buffett Indicator has shown, but even with a bull run like the last 2 years it will take 2 more years to reach bursting point, at least.

For those who have stayed the distance on Inca for so long to fall out of the tree because one of Putin's tanks drove past would be a shame.

GL if you are brave enough to sell and buy back lower - you might need it.
