Time traveller: What does the word "economy" mean to you? That shares of BHP, TLS, CML etc are doiung well? Is that it?
It used to mean that everyone in country had a fair go at its wealth. You worked an honest day's work and you got an honest dollar. Now, you're turned into a slave for 50c. Now there's rampant unemployment, endless cues, elitist attitude to services, ever-widening gap between rich and poor, ever-widening gap between moral and immoral with a huge proclivity towards the latter, a dog-eat-dog mentality by those who "have it" and must waste more time and energy defending it than creating something with it -something of value to their neighbours...
A strong economy no longer means the economy of the country but the finances of the few. They're doing well, thank you very much because they've got morally defunct weasels like Howard in their pockets; because governments have damned near completely abrogated their responsibility and do nothing to stop the corporate thugs from destroying the REAL ECONOMY!
