I think it's about hanging in there a bit longer. I don't think it will be that long either. A few posts recently speculating about time to produce a 12CQ prototype being 5-10 years. I think it will be a lot sooner. Pure speculation on my part also but my tuppence worth as follows: cubit control within the next 12 months, and readout within 6-9 months of cubit control.
Just look at the progress since commencement in April 2019 (see listed below). Control measurements commence in July 2020. Technical progress smattered through the next 12 months with first indication of cubit control in July 2021. February 2022, in my non-technical brain, it appears that we have controlled a clump of graphene at room temperature. Is it such a big leap to control a single cubit of the same material? Also, seems that we used HEMT (technology commonly used in mobile phones) to "..detect and characterise the cubit material..".
I reckon cubit control within 12 months and readout 6-9 months after that, working prototype within 2 years of now. If I'm right, will gladly shout a dozen of you a glass of good red at a bar in Brisbane..
