Arkacia, I have a feeling that although the ETS has been rejected, the Australian people at large want this legislation passed, and it seems there won't be a double dissolution election. Julia Gillard has stated that the labor party wish to pass the ETS through the senate on Feb 1 of next year (when parliament resumes). My feeling is that the Libs will allow it to pass, otherwise it could be political suicide for the Libs in general.
As to UCG stocks, if the ETS is passed and big compensation payments are made to current coal fired power stations in order to shut down (gradually), some of this money will be re-invested by those companies into clean coal technology. after all, energy from coal is their business.
I am personally frustrated with the sp like everyone else at the moment, but my eyes are firmly fixed on the burn. Won't be happy if it's not flaring by Feb. If all is successful, CXY may become a takeover target sometime next year. (All IMO)
Hopefully clean coal gets a big mention at Copenhagen too!!
