"The Board of NZOG is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Peter Griffiths as a director of the company, effective from today.

Mr Griffiths, 54, recently retired as Managing Director of BP New Zealand Ltd after a successful 21 year career with the BP group.

His previous roles within BP included General Manager Papua New Guinea; Commercial Manager for BP New Zealand''s Fuel and LPG interests; and Terminal Operations Manager. For the last 10 years he was Managing Director of BP New
Zealand Ltd and also Chairman of BP South West Pacific Ltd.

NZOG Chairman Tony Radford said "Peter Griffiths is a business leader with many years experience in oil industry operations at both operational and strategic levels within the BP group and through his previous involvements in
offshore oil and gas field operations in Australasia, Malaysia and the United Kingdom. His appointment as a director of NZOG is another measured step in
renewal of the NZOG Board and I''m sure Peter will make an excellent contribution in progressing the profitable growth of the company."

Mr Griffiths has previously served on the boards of New Zealand Refining Company Ltd, Liquigas Ltd and Bitumix Ltd. He is currently a director of Wanganui Gas Ltd and New Zealand Diving and Salvage Ltd.

He holds a BSc (Hons) from Victoria University and resides in Wellington.
