The record date is the one that counts. Your purchase contracts have 2 days to settle. That is your cash (as buyer) and whoever's shares (as seller) go to a clearing house and are exchanged in two days. You have a contract or a promise to own them but you don't yet own the company and are not a shareholder until after settlement. The record date is the date you are recorded on the register as an owner. If the seller was on the register and they can participate.

As for holding till the 18th that is not quite right you can do what I call recycling (sell the old buy the new). Which I will do if does get over .175 before my last chance to participate. They often do that. You only make a little but its free money and it benefits the company. The insto's can't but that doens't apply to retails. My deal is its their problem to keep the price up so I can particpate.

The options are worthless they are just marketing. Don't sweat it. It doesn't make sense why not buy now you will have a solid profit by the time they hit the strike price. The options have a zero dollar value so thats what I will be valuing them at. If the SP was say .30c then that is different. In fact buying in this way really makes them a negative that is you are paying for them. Is opportunity cost of say 1 cents at todays SP and you need the price to get to .265 just to break even.
