Hi brains71,
Besser block homes are notorious for holding their heat, and now the insulation is holding that in. Most new homes in FNQ now require the Western wall to have insulation placed between the block work and the plasta board.
I think shading the walls that are getting the hottest sun during the day would help alot in stopping your house from heating up.
Also the whirly birds are a great idea. If you are fitting them yourself, wait untill late in the afternoon before you cut the hole in the roof, and you will be shocked at just how hot the air will be that rushes from the opening. All the best with it, regards
