So you say "...Mr Wellborn better start to work hard...". Pardon me but how hard should he work for his large salary, 60%, 70% ???? Yes a 35% no vote is substantial and puts the Board on notice. Perhaps seeing that figure they'll feel disappointed in shareholders and decide to only work 75% hard for us. Maybe they'll withhold future dividends.
They could read the size of the 'no' vote as shareholders wanting them to give 100% for an otherwise healthy level of remuneration, but most greedies wouldn't see that. Sadly many circles view the current form of capitalism as 'rampant capitalism' and this will continue as long as the narrative remains 'we need bonuses to work hard' and as long as too few shareholders see otherwise. The size of the 'no' vote here may be an indication the tide is turning on this, if this is true, it is not before time.
