Iran nuclear deal in coming days/weeks may be what US needs to cool down oil prices a bit.
After Trump pulled out of the agreement, Biden was afraid to look weak if he goes back to the deal, and Iran also couldn't trust US pulling tricks again. The negotiations just dragged on.
To maintain sanctions on Russia, US wants Iran and others increasing production. Iran would love the high oil prices. Unlikely friends, but it's a win-win situation. And this time Russia may be the one to try and sabotage the deal:
