Very long transmission distances become inefficient.
Goethermal may well be great one day, but right now there isnt a commercial plant doing the job.
Right now, if we knock out the brown coal plants, the only viable replacement is a gas fired plant. They work and we know we can build them quickly.
In 25 years maybe geothermal may get a look.
