I recently emailed Scott Stewart (Mining Minster QLD) regarding the delay in approving the New Acland extension. You can also do that at the bottom of the page here ;

I received a formal response from Darren Moore (Exec Dir. Mining & Coal) which read as follows ;

Dear Mr xxxxxx
Thank you for your inquiry received 11 January 2022 to the Honourable Scott Stewart MP,
Minister for Resources, concerning the New Acland Coal Mine (New Acland). The Minister has
asked me to respond on his behalf.
The Land Court handed down its final recommendation on the New Acland Stage 3 Expansion
Project on 17 December 2021. The Land Court has recommended to grant the mining lease
applications subject to New Acland applying to the Coordinator-General to amend the
environmental authority and for the Department of Environment and Science (DES) to approve
the environmental authority.
This government has committed to accept all Court judgements, including this latest
recommendation from the Land Court. However, the Minister cannot make a decision on the
mining leases until DES has issued a final environmental authority.
