Problem is your asset, cash is depreciating. Over 16% increase in money supply in Australia per year. You can argue cash has a negative real return after tax on the interest and depreciation, whereas a business that holds it's market share is steady or positive in real terms. Another way of holding value in real terms is precious metals.
