Firstly, its in their current Constitution to join NATO.
Secondly, NATO have been allowing Ukraine military to serve under its umbrella in places like Afghanistan.
Thirdly, NATO members have been sending military weapons and military trainers into Ukraine.
If you were the Russian military and witness these events happening, how would you react?
That's why they (Russian) went to NATO and US, seeking security guarantees.
Now, if NATO/US is ONLY a defensive alliance, then why didn't it provide Security Guarantees?!?
After all, defensive is about defending against an attack, and that was all Russia wanted in their "Security Guarantee" demand - that is, NOT to be attacked by NATO/US.
So why didn't NATO provide those Security Guarantees?
