Many people including myself would have been surprised at India's vote in the UN. I was even more surprised when talking with an Indian friend who follows the media in his homeland. He told me that two issues keep being thrown up in discussion of the Ukraine war. One is that the US supported Pakistan in the UN many years back over a dispute or fighting with India. He couldn't remember when this issue came up but it was responsible for much anti-US opinion in India. How attitudes towards the US comes into the Russia-Ukraine war I have no idea. The second is that there is a widespread belief in India that Russia does not have territorial ambitions in Europe apart from Ukraine. Go figure!?
