I've always hated Wagner's music, heavy, sentimental cloying, overly drawn out,
Yuk.
Sentimentality is the other face of fascism. - Carl Gustav Jung (paraphrased)
It's why you get Putin singing a Godawful version of On Bluberry Hill.
It's why Sinatra was so favoured by The Mob (fascism if not in name).
Mushy, like a warm treacle enema (or what I imagine it to be like) I can't stand sentimentality.
It's what drives Putin's yearning for the old USSR.
The Fatherland, the ancient roots of Russia blah blah blah.
It's toxic.
