Now we are catching up to new stuff, January prices where very good for a few reasons.
Overall average of $16.78 is a new high from comtrade, previous high was 15.6 in October. Also good with China, 2nd highest monthly per kg, previous was Oct at 19.95 Its also interesting seeing prices for Rep. of Korea sneaking up in Jan to be 2nd highest (ignoring Maldives), Dec was 66,361 kg at $13.74, so up 40% on volume and 25% on price. Its interesting given stories in recent days about shortages leading to demand destruction, salmon taken off menus at restaurants because its not available. Its still a small market for us 2.2% of exports, but it will be interesting to see how high prices got to in Feb,March before demand destruction, might be a good estimate for a ceiling price.
It might be useful if i looked at price variance statistically, maybe a standard deviation between countries, its a long time since ive done that sort of thing though.
