MobyT, questioning the credentials of geologists when it comes to climate shows that you don't even understand the basics when it comes to climate. The current debate about climate is all about the present climate relative to the historic climate, is it different to any of the previous cycles that have occurred as the earth evolved. NOW, how do we know what changes have occurred in the past? How do we know about how the earth evolved and what forces were at work to form it into the form we know today. It certainly wasn't climate scientists, a relatively new "discipline". I thought it would have been obvious that the only discipline with the knowledge and skills to unlock the mysteries of the past is the geologist. Without the knowledge developed by the geologists over time, climate scientists would not even know which way is up, and most likely would not even exist.
