    ASX-listed Lucapa Diamond reported attributable EBITDA of US$16.6 million in 2021, compared to US$400,000 in 2020, due to stronger diamond prices.
    The group said its after-tax profit for the year was $2.8 million, compared to a loss of $9.7 million a year earlier.
    At Lulo, Angola, where Lucapa holds a 40% stake, a record EBITDA of US$37.2 million was recorded in 2021, compared to US$6.2 million in 2020, as a consequence of strong operating performances and the environment. of prices.
    The company said its 70% Mothae mine in Lesotho achieved an EBITDA of US$5.6 million in 2021, compared with US$1.1 million a year earlier.
    Lulo's attributable share to Lucapa was $14.9 million and Mothae's $3.9 million.
    He said the cutting and polishing partnerships at both mines “performed well” over the past year.
    Lulo racked up $2.5 million from the polishing partnership, while Mothae brought in $1.6 million for the year.
    Lucapa said diamond prices rose more than 30% on average in 2021 as stock levels of polished stones depleted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
