@822-190 Wagner only wrote a cycle of operas (Die Götterdämmerung) whose subjects were the stories from the Edda - a compendium of stories of the Scandinavian Gods and Norse Myths; translated and changed by various German poets.

The "Mensch und Übermensch" 'theory came from a misunderstood philosopher called Friedrich Nietzsche, who never really had such a theory, but the concept was interpreted wrongly - it's in his book 'Thus Spake Zarathustra' -

Nietzsche was also a misogynist - he would have fitted well into the HotCopper 'old grumblies' group
