specially because they are rich, for them it is not a huge deal whether they will own part of the company who purchases this vs directly this company.
There are significant market risk even if they are doing good today - however generally buyers pays may be 1 to 3 years future value. They may try to get 4 year future value today if they arrange open auction with various bidders who knows!
original owners are smart either they can enjoy 3 years premium today + start thinking about next adventure / companies + have some part kept invested in the company which purchases this
