I had a bookie neighbour in Caulfield years ago...who was a larger than life character...great sense of humour and he had some great tales on nearly everyone in the ggs...one good was I think it was a hurdle fix at Caulf ..to cut a long story short..only one other chance in the race fav ridden by an incorruptible jockey....so what the trainer did was deliberately put it a couple of kilos light so if it won ..it wouldn't get correct weight and be disqualified..anyway it won...and the other ran second...so all's good and they waited for incorrect weight....nothing correct weight called..done their money...lol...later the winning trainer as he passed the steward..the steward said you know Jim your horse was a bit light but we thought it won so easy it wouldn't have changed the result..and virtually winked ...lol...
..a great lesson the bookie taught me is one day I'd been given a tip by one of the Caulfield trainers...and told him I've got this tip and he pulled out the form guide and said which one ? I told him he took out his pen and crossed it out and said thanks..helps fine down the field...lol
    ..of course it lost..lol
