It shows that the new government fully understands its limitations in terms of lithium industry expertise. It would not be able to manage such an entity. It also highlights Codelco's reticence to put pedal to the metal at Maricunga.
HOWEVER, what it does show is that it could present a range of opportunities for LPI over the longer term. LPI has accrued significant lithium industry experience over the last six years and with a Chilean CEO is well placed to navigate government, the bureaucracy and the industry.
